Motivation

Basic requirement: the application should be usable in as many rooms as possible.

Finding the right size of the virtual room is difficult:

  • if dynamic what are the maximum and minimum sizes (too narrow vs too far away)
  • if static what is a size which fits "most" physical rooms

Trivia

since dynamic arrangement turned out to be difficult, we discussed with the customer to find the underlying motivation for the requirement and concluded that it should be usable in as many physical rooms as possible. Instead of "wasting" too much time on this dynamic arrangement, we decided to go with a fixed room size

  • Minimal room size is defined by the space required to put two objects next to each other
    • at least two different larger objects need to be next to each other to have enough OHS issues available
    • we had a working desk and a door which were both to be used in O1 (about 2.7 m, assuming desk is 1.8 m and door 0.9 m). We rounded up to 3 m -> very narrow -> discussing constraint (as many rooms as possible) with customer (we discussed the "possible") 20f32d4c
  • too large room distributes the objects and the whole scene does not appear as one unit any more e4e2fd54

-> dissed technical constraints and impressions we gathered during development (storage room, artificially far away objects, dolls-house effect + the opposite: doll perspective <- did not occur but also is possible) with customer and agreed on 5 m * 5 m floor space

The working area is a bit small, which makes the scene look crowded. We enlarge the area to max. 5*5 m, initially we test 4*4 and increase step by step if necessary.

Since the field of vision in the AR glasses is not so large and you are now "enlarging the room to 4m * 4m, the question is, does it make sense to make the images such as the table, chair, door, computer, ... smaller as they are now?
Wouldn't this give us more field of sight from the room into the picture window of the glasses?
I would have more space and thus an overview of the room in the window without moving my head.

We had that in between times, unintentionally. The entire interior looked like a doll's house and you ended up standing very high above it and looking at it from above. You had the feeling you could peek over the door into the room. I think we can adjust the dimensions a little bit, but it will be minimal so that this doll's house effect doesn't happen.

Currently the application requires at least 3 walls to begin the process of corner selection. Change it to minimum 2 walls.
